Lentz, Whitmire, House, Propst &
Richardson, LLP was formed in 1957 as Brewer &
Lentz
by Albert P. Brewer (former Speaker of the Alabama House of
Representatives, Lieutenant Governor and Governor of the State of
Alabama) and Gene H. Lentz. In 1968, Governor Brewer left the firm to
assume his duties as Governor of Alabama. Soon afterwards, Dan F.
Nelson (former District Attorney of the 8th Judicial Circuit Court of
Alabama) joined the firm. In 1979, Governor Brewer returned to the firm
and the name was changed to Brewer, Lentz, Nelson & Whitmire.
Governor Brewer retired from the firm in 1987 to serve as Distinguished
Professor of Law and Government at Samford University in Birmingham and
the firm name was changed to Lentz, Nelson, Whitmire & House.
Later
Dan F. Nelson retired from the practice of law and the name of the firm
was changed to its current name of Lentz, Whitmire, House, Propst &
Richardson, LLP.
